Description:

Req ID:453493
At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.
Alstom has been awarded the PTA Australia’s $1.6 billion Railcar Program. As part of the project we will design, manufacture and maintain 246 new railcars needed for METRONET projects and the replacement of the A-series trains. We will also deliver 6 DMU railcars to replace the five diesel railcars that operate the twice daily Australind service between Perth and Bunbury. As we continue to achieve key milestones of this project, we have created multiple opportunities to lead the manufacturing activities for a specific unit, as Production Unit Manager.
These positions are permanent, full-time and operate from our well-appointed Bellevue facility alongside an established and diverse team, delivering this pinnacle rail project for WA.
You will be responsible for time management (presence management and activity management) of all employees and assuring compliance with the local legislation and accountable for the time reconciliation. You will ensure the manufacturing preparation of the activity is proactively aligned with Production KPI’s to ensure deliverables are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of operators including monitoring and management of training, qualifications, and tasks
  • Resourcing for the particular unit (short and long term) and ensuring appropriate skills and qualifications to meet delivery targets
  • Collaborate with several teams to forecast, plan and mitigate potential risks or delays in response to the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
  • Be accountable for the industrial process handover from engineering to manufacturing
  • Deploy and oversee the internal continuous improvement system (APSYS) and associated activities to support an ongoing effort to improve, streamline and reduce waste
  • Manage the SQCD performance for the activities within the respective unit and track all associated KPI’s, ensuring optimisation of work stations
  • Model and implement a safety-first culture, ensuring quality and cost effective outputs are achieved
We are looking for a passionate, experience leader who prides themselves on making safety, quality and people their priority, with existing experience from the manufacturing industry.
