This position will be assigned a Fall/Winter rotation but teaching assignments may be changed by the Associate Dean and occur in any of the three semesters
The Human Services & Community Safety academic portfolio is seeking a full-time professor for the Community Safety (police Foundations) diploma (and degree) program(s). Committed to modern policing practices, Georgian College, takes a contemporary approach to policing education that incorporates various strategies, technologies, and community-oriented initiates in the delivery of our Community Safety programs. Duties include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Designing, updating and delivering a wide variety of courses in our Community Safety (police Foundations) diploma (and degree) program(s)Defining / evaluating / validating program and course learning outcomes
  • Ensuring program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices in the field by participating in community organizations and professional associations and other scholarly activities
  • Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of our students’ cultures, educational backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Participating in portfolio / academic / campus and college-wide activities / task groups as required
  • Developing alternative delivery strategies, and online course development and teaching, as required
  • Working in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college
  • Fulfilling responsibilities as defined in the Academic Employees Collective Agreement
