Description:

Applications are invited for the position of Professor, Sports Management within the School of Business and Management Studies. This position will commence August 2024 at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, the successful candidate will provide an invitational learning environment to deliver courses within the School of Business and Management and contribute to the division’s scholarly activity.
The Professor position is responsible for providing academic leadership and developing an effective learning environment for students. The successful candidate should aspire to provide academic excellence in the learning environment, thus enabling our students to achieve success in their careers. This includes designing, revising and updating courses/curriculum; teaching assigned courses; consulting with stakeholders (faculty, community and industry partners); defining course objectives and evaluating student comprehension of objectives; utilize a variety of instruction medium /resources; and provide individualized instruction where necessary. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • A Masters Degree in Sport Management (or relevant subject area).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Required qualifications include a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in sports management. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record in emerging sports management fields, particularly in digital media and sports data analytics.
  • Candidates should demonstrate experience or advanced knowledge of data analytics in sports, including the use of player performance analysis. Additionally,
  • experience with social media and digital platforms, with a focus on increasing fan engagement through interactive and virtual content, would be highly valued.
  • Knowledge of e-sports integration, specifically leveraging e-sports to expand sports organizations’ reach and appeal to new audiences, is also desirable.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of teaching experience at a post-secondary level or adult training experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies and incorporate appropriate educational technologies into the learning process.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate learning with a diverse range of students to support their success.
  • History of forging strong working relationships with peers and colleagues.
  • Proven willingness to contribute to a strong team environment and positive work culture.
  • Evidence of commitment to supporting and guiding students toward their successes.
  • Proven ability to deliver course content to a diverse student population.
  • Advanced internal and external networking/relationship building and liaison abilities.
