Description:
The Programs and Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Coordinator provides day-to-day oversight of Community Services (CS) programs/services and leads The Salvation Army Okanagan Central’s Emergency Disaster Service Responses. The incumbent is responsible for continuous quality improvement of Community Service programs, ensuring maximum mission impact and responsiveness to expressed needs.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Completion of BSW or equivalent degree
- Internal SA EDS Training modules (Introduction to EDS, EDS Food Services, Incident Command and Emotional and Spiritual Care) will be completed during probation; regular Refreshers, as recommended by the Divisional EDS Secretary will be required
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of three years of prior related experience including experience in a variety of social service programs with some supervisory experience, and experience in oral and written communication.

- Ability to be a Spiritual leader

- Able to work in a consultative, diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Able to work cooperatively and effectively with mission partners, guests, visitors and the general public.
- Possesses personal qualities and attitudes that respect and maintain the spirit, dignity and individuality of guests and mission partners.
- Strong communication skills-written, public speaking
- Leadership skills- strategic planning, inspirational communication, staff development
- Organizational skills- scheduling, proposals, project management, special event coordination
- Management skills- Coaching, leading meetings, Human Relations management/supervision, staff documentation, program evaluation and design, volunteer management/supervision
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Proficiency with the following computer software packages: Microsoft Office package, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite, Link2Feed preferred.
