OPPORTUNITY
MacEwan University is seeking a Program Assistant for a full-time non-recurring term opportunity with the School of Continuing Education.
The Program Assistant contributes to the success and smooth operation of the School of Continuing Education programs within the Student Support Centre. The position responds to inquiries from students including admission requirements, course offerings, prerequisites, registration procedures, fees and fee payments and academic and student services for international students. The Program Assistant is also responsible for specific tasks within these areas, providing administrative support to both units and will also be responsible for responding to email and telephone inquiries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Dealing directly with students in-person.
- Registering new and returning students for courses and collecting fee payment using PeopleSoft.
- Referring students to the Advisors or Senior Program Manager for specific questions or concerns relating to programs or the instructors.
- Providing program specific information regarding requirements, electives, procedures, timelines, and general program facts for designated portfolio.
- Referring students to the Student Support Centre Advisors as required.
- Communicating with Registrar’s Office in relation to student applications, continuing student registration, prior learning assessments; providing program specific information that is communicated to prospective and registered students.
- Preparing reports, records and supporting documentation as directed by the unit supervisor.
- Preparing course packages or handouts as provided by instructors.
- Assisting in the development and distribution of marketing/program information.
- Providing proofreading services.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a post-secondary diploma in Business, Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of related experience supporting program delivery, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, working with international students, including an understanding of other cultures and the ability to communicate in a cross-cultural working environment.
- Be an outward-facing representative of our programs, fostering positive relationships with staff, students and, and stakeholders.
- A proven ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically diverse population.
- Cross cultural experience from student activities, work, volunteering, or study abroad would be considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
