QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Diploma in Business or Project Management and sound related experience in coordinating engineering programs or projects or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of construction methods and procedures, scheduling and planning.
- Sound knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures, by-laws and other guidelines governing the work.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficient in the use of standard office applications, databases and geographic information systems such as MS Office, Sharepoint, Adobe Illustrator, ArcGIS.
- Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Good problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to resolve conflicts arising within the project team or in interactions with community, stakeholders and businesses in the most advantageous manner to all parties involved.
- Ability to be impartial, and work collaboratively, show good judgement, and have good negotiation skills.
- Ability to work diplomatically and persuasively with community groups and professional personnel.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 – 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.

Responsibilities:
MAIN PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
Reporting to the Technical Supervisor, the Road Ahead Program Coordinator plays an essential role in the planning of both large scale infrastructure construction projects and small scale projects by acting as a pivotal interface between project teams and stakeholders for Engineering Services. The position identifies Street Use conflicts and facilitates coordination issues with Operations Branches, Project Coordinators, other city staff, and outside utility companies; and maintains the Road Ahead website.
The Program Coordinate will work closely with Design Section Heads, Superintendents, Project Coordinators and other staff within the City as well as with 3rd party utility company representatives to identify conflicts and coordinate how issues can be resolved.
