SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for maintaining academics, enrichment, recreation and operation of all program sites. This employee must be able to prioritize work and make changes as needed on a daily basis without their supervisor’s presence. This position is responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of all staff under their supervision and will make recommendations for termination of employees. Must possess knowledge of before/after school programming and the development, implementation, and coordination of programs and services that meet the needs of the whole child.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field or an associate’s degree or two years of college in a related field (COA Requirement)
  • At least 2 years of experience working with youth
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work outdoors for more than 3 hours.
  • Must be able to walk 2-3 hours during work hours.

License and Credentials

  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Must have clean driving record
  • Valid vehicle insurance

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong background in working with children and youth a must; preferred to be studying or have obtained an education degree and/or have the work experience.
  • Program planning and facilitation experience an asset
  • Ability to work with children in a respectful and empowering manner
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong community outreach and public relations skills and ability to liaise with community partners and leaders
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred not required

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel requirements for the position includes 10% local and 0% overnight

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position requires the following physical demands in the frequency noted.

F = Frequently (From 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) R = Rarely (less than on hour per week)

Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of all staff under their supervision and will make recommendations for termination of employees.
  • To develop and implement employee development plans for program employees.
  • Ensuring compliance with terms, conditions, and reporting of grants and federal regulations,
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining program budget.
  • Recruit and enroll program participants to meet average daily attendance requirements.
  • Identify, train, and supervise program director designee, group leaders, volunteers, parent liaisons, and community partners to implement academic, recreation, and enrichment activities.
  • Responsible for developing the evidence-based program curriculum, managing evaluation and assessment procedures for the program, tracking progress of the program and individual students, and reporting progress to parents, and other stakeholders if applicable.
  • Responsible for building relationships with schools, parents and community groups to promote the program, build support for the program, and build capacity.
  • Responsible for participant registration, emergency/safety plan, transportation, rules/discipline, policies and procedures, after school release forms, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains communication with regular day and after school staff, principal and director, community agencies/partners and families regarding all aspects of student involvement in the program.
  • Responsible for coordinating student transportation services for after school program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director and VP of Programs.
