Description:
Position Category: Exempt, Non UnionReports to: Executive DirectorWork Year: Full-Time, Year Round The selected candidate will be an instructional leader who is also responsible for the effective management of the milieu and all program functions, including therapeutic, curricular, transitional and vocational experiences for students, with the goal of ensuring students graduate with a high school diploma (issued by their school district) and the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in the workforce and/or postgraduate studies.The Program Director must be team-oriented and possess strong oral and written communication skills and effective management skills. The Program Director must be able to implement and supervise the delivery of high quality social-emotional curriculum, improve and maintain academic rigor, and develop structures and programming that support the implementation of Behavior Support Plans and crisis intervention strategies. The candidate must be able to lead a multidisciplinary team and have the ability to understand and access community and school-based support systems. Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of relevant services to support both educational and mental health-related needs.Improve achievement for all students through education, vocational training, and experience based as fully as possible on their own stated needs, interests, and expectations.Ensure staff, student, and family comprehension of behavior and educational goals and foster positive approaches to problem-solving.Participate in LABBBs leadership team, including meetings, trainings, and professional development.Collaborate with personnel and agencies (e.g.
counselors, social workers, psychologists, community agencies, families, etc.) for the purpose of responding to individual and group needs.Supervise and evaluate program personnel, including teachers, paraprofessionals, and related services staff.Conduct instructional observations for the purpose of serving as a coach and identifying and solving issues regarding academics and behaviors.Support teachers by continually observing the teachers, providing feedback and engaging in observation and formal evaluation cycles. Supervises and evaluates teachers and classroom aides in programs under his/her direct supervision. Work closely with the team to analyze current student data and devise effective instructional re-teaching plans that address student learning gaps to ensure students academic achievement.Support teachers in the development of Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support Plans (FBA-BIP) and transition plans.Work closely with the Referral Coordinator to assist in new student referrals may include review of referral packets, conduct student and family visits, and accept students on a rolling basis. Ensure that all students access appropriate courses based on district graduation requirements.Assists in the hiring process for staff in programs under his/her direct supervision.Lead and supervise student interventions, including crisis management, staff training and systems of student support.
Demonstrate a strong sense of professionalism and present themselves as a strong role model for staff and students.Direct all aspects of the program in accordance with LABBBs policies, and state and federal regulatory expectations and legal responsibilities for serving students with disabilities.Collaboratively with the Executive Director, the Program Director will work to fulfill the mission, vision, and goals of the Collaborative. The Program Director will administer, supervise, and ensure high quality of all programs and services provided by the Collaborative.. Assists the Executive Director and Director of Finance and Operations in preparing, monitoring, and administering annual budgets for programs under his/her direct supervision. Assists with administrative duties, including but not limited to transportation lists, calendars, parent meetings, and interaction with host school administration.Conducts case conferences, student progress meetings and professional consults as needed.
Assists with developing professional development for all staff. Assist with the design of program handbooks,, resource and training manuals, and other staff support materials. Other duties, as appropriate, as assigned by the Executive Director. Qualifications: Special Education Administrator/Director License or License Eligible.Masters Degree in related fields.Minimum of five years professional school-based experience working with students with social-emotional disabilities and behavior challenges, preferably at the high school level.Administrative/supervisory experience in an educational setting required.Start date- July 1, 2024.This position will be a part of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System
