Position Purpose: The Program Director, Teen Development at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine oversees the daily operations of our teen programs. This includes developing and implementing a full range of programming and services and facilitating strategic planning initiatives. The goal is to drive program growth and success, with a focus on workforce development, leadership and discovery, and college and career readiness. This role is responsible for the training and supervision of necessary staff, budget management, community outreach to foster strategic partnerships, and provide outstanding service to all members, program participants and partners. The Program Director, Teen Development will ensure that all YMCA of Greater Brandywine standards are being met and/or exceeded in direct correlation with the organization’s strategic vision and goals. The Teen Development Director holds a pivotal role in the Chester County community, focusing on nurturing teenagers through tailored programs and activities while maintaining a safe environment where teenagers can thrive.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience in a leadership or educational capacity working with teenagers is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and management, preferably in a youth or teen development setting.
  • Proven experience in staff supervision, leadership, and team management.
  • Familiarity with budget management and financial oversight.
  • Demonstrated engagement in community outreach, events, and committees, with a proactive approach to building partnerships and fostering collaboration with local organizations and stakeholders to support the needs of teenagers and enhance program effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, with experience in developing and implementing programs that address the needs of diverse populations, including those from marginalized or underserved communities.
  • Proven ability to create and maintain an inclusive and safe space for teenagers, fostering an environment where all individuals feel respected, valued, and supported in their personal and developmental journeys.
  • An understanding of behavioral intervention strategies and principles of adolescent development.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to address challenges and make strategic decisions.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and engage with diverse groups of teenagers and community members.
  • Proficient in data management, including conducting thorough research, gathering accurate
  • data, and maintaining records.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to make informed decisions regarding youth programs.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient in multitasking and adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Training and certifications as required by the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive range of programs and activities tailored to meet the developmental needs of teenagers aged 12-21.
  • Ensures programs and services are aligned with community needs by overseeing current activities, introducing new initiatives, and scaling the program as required.
  • Develop and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Compiles program data to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Market and distribution of program information.
  • Organizes and manages program registrations and records.
  • Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and utilization of facilities and space required for teen programs, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for program activities. Including regional meetings/events, weekend outings, annual conferences and summer trips.
  • Establishes, fosters, and sustains mutually beneficial partnerships with various community
  • organizations, including local schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Actively engages in networking, outreach efforts, and relationship-building activities to cultivate strong alliances and leverage resources for the advancement of shared goals and initiatives.
  • Serves as a liaison between the YMCA and external stakeholders, advocating for the interests of teen programming and fostering a sense of community cohesion and unity.
  • Support the Teen Development Quality Team by actively participating in team meetings, contributing ideas and insights, and assisting in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Works in partnership with YMCA branch leadership and association staff to fulfill YMCA mission and cause towards our teen development strategy.
  • Support the execution of established teen program policies and the development of procedures and methods.
  • Participate in YGBW fundraising initiatives, contributing to the organization’s overall success and community engagement efforts.
  • Demonstrates exemplary relationship-building abilities in every interaction. Addresses all member and community inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.
  • Serve as an advocate for teen development within the organization and the community, representing the interests and needs of teenagers and advocating for resources and support.
  • Available to work nights and weekends.
  • Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
