Description:

SUMMARY:

Program Director provides care, supervision and program leadership to youth with mental health disorders, substance use disorder (SUD) still enrolled in school. The Program Director is the co-facilitator of a multidisciplinary team that provides care and milieu-based treatment services. The Program Director actively supports and implements an evidence-based, culturally competent, client-centered approach to working with youth and their families. The Program Director will work positively and supportively with all departments and employees of the organization, providing timely and accurate organizational information and supporting the Mission, Vision and Values of Westbrook Health Services.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong commitment to, and expertise in, working with youth and young adults.
  • Good understanding of child growth and development, adolescent mental health issues, adolescent substance use disorder and youth involved with the juvenile court system.
  • Familiarity with Day Treatment Programming
  • Ability to relate positively to residents, family members, staff, caseworkers/probation officers, referring agencies, volunteers, etc.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team within an outpatient mental health agency.
  • Ability to be clear headed and decisive based on the scope of the position.
  • Knowledge of sound ethical clinical practice and principles related to the care of mental health consumers.
  • A superior communicator, who shares information readily and concisely, listens and gives advice, and respects the abilities of others.
  • Ability to respect and uphold client confidentiality.
  • Ability to exhibit high organizational skills and knowledge to prioritize and multi-task without direct supervision.
  • Strong skills in data collection, demonstrating outcomes, and reporting to funders.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively both individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to appropriately accept feedback through the supervision process - thus displaying the willingness to learn and grow.
  • Skilled with best practices in crisis work and serving individuals experiencing suicidal ideation.
  • Excellent attention to detail, working accurately and efficiently under time constraints.
  • Able to use primary office machines such as computer systems with programmed software and fax machines.
  • Ability to support the agency’s culture, growth, and success through communication, accountability, and positivity.
    Must pass Criminal Investigation Background and DHHR background checks and post-offer drug screen.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The supervision and treatment of youth requires prolonged periods of walking and standing and physical agility. May be required to run and climb flights of stairs. Must be able to participate in physical interventions with youth when necessary. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Will be required to complete Right Response and CPR training.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise program participants when necessary in the completion of their daily routines, and implementing necessary programing.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the school programs, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain program policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to program staff, ensuring effective teamwork and collaboration.
  • Monitor program activities to ensure compliance with program goals, objectives, and budget.
  • Develop and manage program budgets, including forecasting and tracking expenses.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify program needs and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and make recommendations for program enhancements or modifications.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality services to clients by monitoring program performance and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to behavioral health programs.
  • Responsible for carrying out various assignments in the area of community relations which may include communication with schools, medical personnel, employment resources, community presentations and/or speaking engagements, working membership in local or regional groups or committees.
  • Oversee the food and nutrition program.
  • Responsible for handling the essential duties of the youth’s clinician during vacations or sick leave or during times of position vacancy
  • Program Director may be occasionally required to attend forums, trainings, etc that require travel and over night stay.
    Education and/or Experience: Master’s degree in relevant discipline required. Prior computer/PC experience using computerized Medical Records and scheduling systems is preferred, but not required. Incumbent must also possess basic math skills. Must pass Criminal Investigation Background and DHHR background check as well as post offer drug screen.
