WHAT’S NEEDED- BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Specialized Schooling/Associate Degree in General Business
- 5 + years of experience with proper management of general and auto liability claims and TPA oversight or management.
- 5+ years of experience in claims management in general liability or auto, ideally working with customers or for a company, with a significant retention/deductible or self-insured program.
WHAT’S NEEDED- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPCU, ARM, SCLA, WCP, AIC, RIMS-CRMP or similar insurance/risk certifications or designations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Insurance
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the proper handling of high exposure general liability, auto and property claims being handled by our Third Party Administrator - including coverage confirmation, liability, damages, subrogation and contribution.
- Attend legal proceedings (virtual or in person), as necessary for case resolution.
- Establish, issue, and approve appropriate loss and expense reserves and payments within stated authority limit in accordance with regulatory, statutory and/or contractual requirements.
- Negotiate and/or approve settlements within granted authority.
- Work with internal and external customers and business partners in investigating and reaching an appropriate disposition of claims.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency through timely and consistent execution of claim best practices and established claim handling guidelines.
- Maintain working knowledge of the regulatory and jurisdictional requirements for assigned jurisdictions.
- Establish and execute appropriate action plans for claim resolution, including cost mitigation.
- Effectively manage litigation process, including assignment of defense counsel, monitoring of defense work produce and working with defense to efficiently reach a fair resolution of claims.
- Draft and present claim reviews to supervisor that provide full evaluation of coverage, liability and damages and a proposed plan to resolve the claim and provide appropriate support for authority requests in excess of individual’s granted authority level.
- Assist and/or directly manage less experienced staff members (max 2).
- May assist Director, Risk Management with contract and RFP reviews and compilation of necessary documents for insurance renewals.
- Other tasks as assigned by Director, Risk Management.
