Description:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • This job may be considered a sensitive position in accordance with NASA Guidelines. If so, the selected candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA’s regulation subpart 1823.5 Drug-Free Workforce,
  • Ability to write clear presentations and technical reports, including proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal / written communications and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively engage customers, team members, suppliers, and management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience executing manufacturing process reviews such as technical process reviews and/or controlled build reviews
  • Experience reading blueprints and robust understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards
  • Experience with AS9100 Quality Management systems
  • Previous experience with SAP operating system
  • Experience with customer interface for product acceptance and/or corrective action response
  • Experience with digital manufacturing execution system (MES) software such as SAP, Solumina, Siemens.

Responsibilities:

POSITION ROLE TYPE:

Collins Aerospace is looking for a Program Quality Engineer for our Rockford, IL location. In this role you will work with a team of quality engineers to support our daily production operations in the Mission Systems Business Unit located in Rockford, Illinois. You will become an expert problem solver by understanding production issues in our assembly processes, determining root causes of problems, and implementing solutions to solve those problems. You will learn to proactively manage product quality by developing process control plans such as PFMEA’s and identify solutions for the risks you uncover in the process. You will also get to work with other Quality groups within Collins Aerospace to help solve customer issues from the field and work with them to implement solutions to those problems.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies and manages risk in product development primarily utilizing and driving PPAP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.).
  • Lead Root Cause Problem Solving for production operations.
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations for Quality Assurance plans, guidelines, policies, and processes to ensure compliance with requirements, objectives and/or contracts.
  • Reviews quality improvement processes to ensure on-going reductions in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and escapes.
  • Identifies opportunities and implements processes to ensure overall quality is continuously improving.
  • Communication project status to multiple levels within organization
  • Provide support of product hardware deliveries through detailed reviews of hardware and supporting documentation review and submittals
