NCSC is looking for an experienced Program Specialist to join our Research & Design Group. The Program Specialist provides administrative, project management, and substantive project support to project directors and project teams within the Research & Design Group.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, sociology or business; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • 3+ years of experience in a program/project support role that includes providing administrative and project management support.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively both orally and written to court officials, partners, funders, and project stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of office management and support practices and procedures to include budget monitoring.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment and to effectively interact with a diverse mix of individuals.
  • Demonstrates time-management skills, including an ability to meet multiple deadlines by maintaining a high level of organization while supporting several projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Office Suite with full proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new software applications.
  • Existing skills or experience in Costpoint, Qualtrics, and/or Matrix desirable, but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates conduct that upholds the basic Core Values of NCSC.
  • Assists project directors with all aspects of project management, including cost, scope, schedule, resource, risk, and stakeholder management, updates, and monitors project budgets.
  • Reviews project awards/contracts and assists project directors by monitoring compliance with funding agency and NCSC requirements.
  • Manages entry of project details, schedules, tasks, and assignments using accepted project management tools.
  • Assists project directors with the submission of award/contract conformance items, including but not limited to progress reports, contract amendments, and grant adjustment requests.
  • Coordinates funder/client interaction, communication, and requests.
  • Creates document/report/presentation templates and designs, edits, and formats reports, presentations, data visualizations, and other project products.
  • Supports project team in the creation of project deliverables and contributes to the same as appropriate (e.g., publish website updates, create and deploy surveys, and assist with data collection).
  • Assists project directors in obtaining and managing project-related procurements including temporary employees, subrecipients, and contractors.
  • Assists with project-related travel, including the booking of travel arrangements and the submission of travel vouchers.
  • Attends and provides administrative support for meetings and coordinates meeting logistics such as meals and hotel accommodations.
  • Provides technical assistance for project-related requests/inquiries.
