Description:

The Methodist School of Music (MSM) is an agency of The Methodist Church in Singapore (MCS) . Its Worship and Music (WM) arm seeks to enhance the quality of worship by nurturing and equipping the body of Christ in the areas of Worship and Music. Its Community Music (CM) arm seeks to provide music education in a Christian environment, use music for outreach and to address social concerns, and use music to connect people across generations / backgrounds / culture / language.
We have a vacancy for Programme Executive (Community Music) (2-year contract).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum university degree from a recognised institution.
  • Preferably to have degree in Social Work, Non-Profit Management, Special Needs Education, Event Management, or a related field, from an recognised institution.
  • At least 5 years of experience working for social service agencies, the public service, or international non-profit organisations.
  • Must have a strong network with sector leaders and regulators.
  • Have proven experience in non-profit operations, with a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements for organizing community music events.
  • Knowledge of local policies and grant programmes, with attention to detail in the completion of the requisite documents for programmes.
  • Able to work well independently, under tight timelines, and on weekends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in interacting effectively with stakeholders of the social service ecosystem. Must have genuine patience in serving special needs stakeholders and other marginalized community members.

Responsibilities:

  1. Programmes Development and Planning
  • Conceptualize and develop innovative music programmes and projects that address specific social concerns and align with the MSM’s vision, mission and values.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders, artists, educators, and researchers to design music interventions that resonate with target audiences.
  • Ensure that music programmes are culturally sensitive, inclusive and accessible to all community members, regardless of background or ability. Strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment that celebrates diversity and promotes equity.
  • Stay informed about best practices, research and trends related to community music programming and social impact initiatives.
  1. Community Engagement and Empowerment
  • Engage community members (especially within MCS) as active participants and co-creators in the development and implementation of music-based initiatives, fostering a sense of ownership and empowerment.
  • Facilitate workshops, discussion forums, and collaborative projects that use music as a medium for dialogue, reflection, and collective action on social concerns.
  • Advocate for the importance of music as a tool for social change and raise awareness about the benefits of music-based initiatives for addressing social issues.
  1. Evaluation and Impact Assessment
  • Monitor program implementation, collect feedback from participants and stakeholders, and analyse qualitative and quantitative data to identify strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Generate evidence-based insights that document the transformative power of music in addressing social concerns and contribute to knowledge sharing.
  1. Administrative Duties
  • Manage budgets for community music programs, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and responsibly.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of music programs, including participant information, program activities, and outcomes.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate program achievements, challenges and impact to stakeholders and funders.
  • Oversee the administrative functions of Community Music, encompassing budget management, scheduling resource allocation, and record keeping.
  • Facilitate the information and document management for CM activities.
