EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree in Environmental, Economics, Development Studies, International
    Development, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited academic institution

with two years of relevant professional experience; or

  • University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in climate change programme management, implementation and/or project

development;

  • Experience in coordination of various divisions/units/departments under the programme to

ensure maximum outputs;

  • Experience with UN and International Agencies, international or local NGOs preferred; and,
  • Work experience at global/regional level is an advantage.

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of UN/IOM’s or International Organizations, regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge of project budgeting and financial management;
  • Knowledge and experience in working with PRIMA or similar system is an advantage;
  • Sound writing, communication and negotiation skills; and,
  • Excellent organization skills, analytical and creative thinking.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide Climate Action Division team with technical support in analyzing Climate Change and
    Human Mobility related trends and issues in view of strategic, programmatic and
    programme-specific funding opportunities.
  2. Support office of the director in the overall implementation of the Climate Action Division
    workplans in HQ, including its financial, administrative and technical implementation, in
    compliance with IOM policies and standards, as well as donor requirements, agreed timeline
    and deliverables.
  3. In coordination with the CAD Director, and CAD Chief of Units, support the work of the
    division team as well as consultants, implementing partners and service providers recruited to
    support and/or undertake specific activities.
  4. Draft and produce reports, review talking points and other documents coming to CAD Director
    office in coordination with the relevant CAD Chief of Unit and ensure proper information
    exchange on all operational aspects of the division.
  5. Contribute to CAD team efforts to identify donors’ priorities and strategies under CAD
    thematic, explore the possibility to develop follow up initiatives and/or initiate programme
    development process in relation to expressed governmental needs, donors’ priorities and in line
    with IOM’s mandate and strategy.
  6. In coordination with the CAD Chief of Units and CAD Director, facilitate adequate information
    management on activities through drafting regular updates, summaries, press releases and
    other relevant materials that promote IOM’s visibility at HQ level.
  7. Assist the CAD team in conducting contextual analysis to identify potential activities to be
    implemented as part of the CAD in line with IOM mandate and the priorities by IOM Startegy.
  8. Contribute to the development of relevant monitoring and evaluation plans and tools to track
    mainstreaming initiatives and measure progress and effectiveness, make recommendation on
    suitable course corrections, and supporting further development and improvements.
  9. Participate when needed in relevant conferences, workshops, steering committees and
    technical working groups, as well as other forums, to facilitate proper coordination and
    presentation of IOM activities.
  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
