We are seeking a Programmer/Analyst - Artificial Intelligence, a strategic thinker who can take initiatives from concept to completion and engineer the way to a smart energy future.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Programmer/Analyst - Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a key contributor to the Hydro Ottawa IT organization helping to shape the company’s AI strategy and showcase the potential for AI through early-stage solutions. The role includes design of machine learning (ML) pipelines, selection and implementation of algorithms, model architecture experiments and integrations into production systems. The Programmer/Analyst - AI works closely with IT colleagues, business stakeholders and external AI partners to identify and implement AI and machine learning capabilities with a focus on improving innovation and business outcomes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- University Degree in Computer Science, related discipline and/or equivalent experience.
- Experience implementing AI/ML platforms (ideally Google Vertex AI and related tools).
- Experience in one or more of the following AI domains (NLP, Robotic Process Automation, Chatbots and Generative AI)
- Good understanding of the intricacies of developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models in production environments.
- Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages, including but not limited to Python, C#, and JavaScript.
- Experience with using Agile and an iterative approach to AI solutions with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer skills; proficient in the use of office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably Google Workspace.
- English essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset.
This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
Hydro Ottawa offers a Hybrid Work Model. Hybrid work is position specific, the details of which the hybrid model will be discussed with successful candidates.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development, implementation and support of AI solutions, including data preprocessing, pipelines, feature extraction, model training, and evaluation.
- Assist in the delivery of robust AI/ML initiatives, prioritizing features and enhancements based on external and internal customer feedback, market demand, and feasibility.
- Contribute to the development of an AI/ML roadmap aligning with the company’s overall vision and goals.
- Partner with stakeholders to define data requirements, data acquisition strategies, and data governance supporting AI/ML initiatives in alignment with privacy and cybersecurity policies.
- Establish success metrics to measure the impact and effectiveness of AI/ML initiatives, continuously optimizing based on data-driven insights.
- Act as the AI/ML subject matter expert within the organization, supporting customer success teams with AI solution knowledge, training, and collateral.
- Provide thorough and timely troubleshooting and root cause analysis to recommend and coordinate resolution activities.
- Facilitate delivery of updates to existing solutions or implementation of new solutions through adherence to best practices for change management.
- Stay current with the latest AI/ML trends and technologies and suggest ways to apply them to current projects.
- Problem solve with a positive solution-oriented mindset.
- Perform other related duties as required.
