GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is pending board approval on June 4, 2024.
The purpose of this job is to conduct needs and risk assessments. Performs analysis and makes referrals. Develops and administers case management plans. Facilitates classes based on cognitive and educational needs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Behavioral or Social Sciences or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of related work experience in teaching.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes evidence‐based instruments and other best practice standards to conduct a risk assessment and investigation of offenders and defendants; assesses threats to public safety and flight risk; makes appropriate recommendations to arraigning judicial officers based upon the investigation and assessment.
  • Conducts specific “needs” assessments of referred offenders and provides referrals to appropriate cognitive, educational, and employment programs; enrolls eligible offenders into the programs; develops a comprehensive case management strategy.
  • Communicates with appropriate external service providers and the Michigan Department of Corrections; provides interim and final reports with case management recommendations to the supervising judicial officer.
  • Collects program data and updates electronic files and databases; provides requested data and recommendations to the Programming Administrator.
  • Facilitates in-person and online technology-based teaching classes.
  • Monitors compliance of various assessments and programs.
  • Performs related work as required.
