THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our finance team. The Project Accountant will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of our projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial health. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, experience in project accounting within the engineering or environmental consulting industry, and a passion for driving efficiency and accuracy in financial processes. A fitting candidate would demonstrate robust motivation, determination, or tenacity to lead others, and establish the necessary framework to streamline and establish efficient processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably in the engineering or environmental consulting industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of government contracting, and regulatory compliance is a plus.
- Proficiency in engineering principles or understanding of engineering concepts.
- Experience in leadership or management roles.
- Demonstrated success in effectively managing projects and leading teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manage project financials including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Monitor project costs, revenues, and margins to ensure profitability and compliance with financial objectives.
- Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Prepare financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and accruals.
- Participate in financial audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
- Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements to streamline financial operations.
- Lead and manage the project accounting team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Projecting revenue streams and anticipating financial outcomes.
- Supervising cross-functional teams and coordinating across various disciplines.
- Allocating budgets effectively to support project goals and objectives.
