Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY:
BluMetric is looking for a full time Project Accountant in our Ottawa or Gatineau location. In this role you will be responsible for overall financial management of projects throughout their lifecycle by ensuring proper set up, maintenance, invoicing, project closure and documentation in accordance with the contractual requirements, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting standards and with BluMetric’s controls, policies and practices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Post-secondary degree in Accounting preferred and 5+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in French is considered an asset.
- Takes ownership of all tasks and works with autonomy.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and relationship building skills are a key asset.
- Strong communication skills, including an ability to communicate effectively at all levels, to articulate ideas, and to provide actionable recommendations.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines with an ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Intermediate or advanced knowledge of MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookups).
- Adaptable to thrive in a fast-paced highly transactional environment.
- Experience with IFRS 15 and revenue recognition is considered an asset and
- Experience with ERP software, in particular, Microsoft Dynamic GP and Microsoft Dynamics CRM is an asset.

Responsibilities:
- Accounting management of a portfolio of projects including:
- Ensuring each project is setup in the accounting system (Microsoft Dynamic GP, Microsoft Dynamic CRM and Jovaco Project Suite) in accordance with the client contract and IFRS 15 requirements.
- Updating project information for contract changes;
- Collaborating with Project Managers (PM) to accurately generate customer invoices;
- Ensuring timely project close out procedures.
- Monthly project performance review with project managers and accounting managers in regards to the work in progress and status of the project, the overall budget, provisions and percentage of completion analysis.
- Participate in month end and quarter end financial reporting tasks including booking journal entries, preparing account schedules and government remittances.
- Build strong relationships with, and serve as a trusted advisor to, our internal business partners including Project Managers (PM) and other project staff, as well as assist and collaborate with other Finance and Accounting team members.
- Provide excellent customer service and a customer-centric focus, while providing a quality of work that consistently meets or exceeds expectations.
- Support management in completing special projects, analysis requests and other tasks as assigned; andProactively look for innovative processes and project accounting improvements.
