    We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Project Accountant to join our growing team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to manage end-to-end accounting processes for a diverse portfolio of construction projects across Vancouver Island.
    Reporting directly to the Controller, you will play a key role within our finance and accounting department. Your responsibilities will encompass comprehensive accounting support for assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete accounting tasks for designated projects with precision and efficiency.
  • Manage accounts payable functions including invoice processing, payments, and vendor correspondence.
  • Establish and maintain vendor profiles.
  • Handle accounts receivable duties such as time and materials billing, progress billing, and invoice management.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely collection of receivables.
  • Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations accurately.
  • Execute accruals and ad hoc journal entries proficiently.
  • Maintain compliance with WCB reporting requirements.
  • Ensure timely completion of month-end tasks.

Project Accounting Duties:

  • Oversee accounting aspects of projects from inception to completion.
  • Set up project profiles in Sage, including estimates, budgets, and billing configurations.
  • Manage client profiles and update as necessary.
  • Generate project profit and performance reports.
  • Conduct variance analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual reports.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted resource within the department and cross-train in other finance and accounting functions.
  • Participate in managing growth opportunities and contribute to ad hoc duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, coupled with a degree/diploma/certificate in accounting and finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset, capable of meeting deadlines accurately and punctually.
  • Strong adherence to core values including safety, teamwork, client focus, continuous learning, and problem-solving.
  • Proficient in treasury management practices, including online banking systems and various financial transactions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in the construction industry is advantageous, along with familiarity with Sage accounting products or similar software.
