JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Mining or heavy industrial construction experience considered an asset
  • 3-5 years administrative work experience or related experience
  • Travel coordination experience
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • JD Edwards (Oracle) or equivalent procurement system proficiency preferred
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
  • Listens and seeks confirmation of understanding
  • Effectively responds well to questions
  • Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar
  • Must be fluent in the English language
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the Canada without sponsorship from Thiess is required

EDUCATION

  • A graduate from a secondary school with a high school diploma

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to live and work in extreme winter conditions with temperatures regularly below zero degrees Celcius.
  • Able to stand, or sit at a desk, for extended periods of time.
  • Able to work for extended 8-hour shifts (to support ealry and late operating start times for client groups).
  • No auditory or visual impairments restricting the ability to see distances while driving and clearly discern auditory and visual alerts/alarms (not including color blindness).
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW

Thiess is seeking a detail-oriented project administrator who can direct and monitor projects and support our mining team in Sudbury, Canada. This role reports directly to the Project Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and arrange meetings, manages schedules, prepares agendas, and reserve and prepare facilities
  • Coordinate and lead the specialized project administrative support to Mine Site Project Team(s) and assist Project Home Office Team
  • Prepare presentations, reports, letters and routine correspondence
  • Manage the site elements, including liaising with Project Manager as necessary
  • Processing of invoices and purchase orders
  • Prepare and manage a weekly progress meeting and minute process. Support Project Management, Supervisors and others with meeting organization, minute taking, issuance, endorsement, and recording
  • Manage office material supply orders
  • Oversee the maintenance and alteration of office areas and equipment, as well as layout, arrangement, and housekeeping of office facilities
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
