Description:

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Able to provide proof of US Citizenship to obtain US Security Clearance or CAC Card
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a shipbuilding, ship repair or similar construction and manufacturing industrial type environment.
  • Ability to obtain PQS 301 Craftsmen qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret MRC/4E work specifications.
  • Ability to read Technical Drawings and interpret the Navy Engineering Operational Sequencing System (EOSS)
  • Ability to utilize and interpret relevant budgeted man-hours and schedule data reports including having a familiarity of scheduling software (Microsoft Project, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to efficiently validate, interpret and understand task scheduling or work sequencing.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and take initiative in all aspects of the position duties.
  • Willingness to work irregular and extended work hours as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • NAVSEA Technical Publication S0400-AD-URM-010/TUM Tag-Out User’s Manual and Shift Operations Management System (eSOMS).
  • Ability to working within the requirements of COMLCSRONONEINST 4700.1 Tag-Out Standard Operating Procedures and has been approved to perform as a Repair Activity (RA) signer for each LCS 2 variant to date.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and manage time effectively, including managing and meeting deadlines
  • Highly motivated and flexible.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and assume responsibility for assigned 3M preventive maintenance and repair work items in relation to MRC/4E work packages on US Navy LCS Class ships.
  • Identify and document system and/or equipment discrepancies via Condition Found Reports / Inspection Deficiency Reports (CFRs / IDRs).
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy preventive 3M maintenance program.
  • Ensure the work in progress is in accordance with the published schedule sequence.
  • Provides coordination, guidance, and direction to the functional project leads to ensure that the work performed enables successful and efficient repair and maintenance of the vessel with focus on milestone achievements, budgeted man-hours and schedule performance.
  • Subcontractor oversight in relation to assigned maintenance or repair work items
  • Maintain a daily presence at the designated worksite regarding the work in progress to monitor safety, housekeeping, work progress and continuous management of Austal labor and/or subcontractors executing work.
  • Coordinate with scheduler to lay out planned work in the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and Planned Maintenance Schedule. Schedule all quality assurance check point and test requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with quality procedures and documents while maintaining OQE in support task completion documentation
  • Maintain daily communication and interaction with the Project Lead to report status and concerns and have the ability to initiate and follow through with required variance analyses and associated corrective action plans
  • Monitor and validate resource requirements for actuals against planned work in progress and project labor requirements to completed defined task efforts while managing to the task agreed EAC
  • Monitor and validate use of rework and lessons learned processes and initiatives to promote continuous improvement.
  • Prepares SOW which depict an accurate detailed work scope necessary for task bid request and task execution requirements including all exit criteria to successfully close out the task.
  • May perform additional duties in the absence of higher level project management personnel, i.e. Project Lead.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Complies with Austal’s employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies.
  • Completes work in various offsite locations requiring travel to customer sites to support work on vessels. The potential for offsite travel is expected to be 15-20%.
