Description:

GFL’s Emergency response division is looking for a project coordinator and/or manager!

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science , Project Management
  • P. Eng/PMP designation is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years of Construction/Environmental experience
  • Requirement to have previous project management experience and estimator experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Operations experience is an asset, but not a requirement
  • Ability to engage and have technical discussions in fields outside area of expertise
  • General knowledge of a variety of engineering disciplines (civil, chemical, environmental, etc)
  • Knowledge of tendering process
  • Experience including budgeting, scheduling, tracking, monitoring, and reporting within projects or programs.
  • Experience leading projects in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently
  • Understand and have experience in capital project execution from scope definition to start-up
  • Flexibility to travel and attend job sites (up to 10% of time)
  • Candidates should be within commuting distance of Mississauga, Ontario

Responsibilities:

  • Project management inclusive of quote preparation, service order generation, creation of budget template, liaison with client, daily cost tracking, verification of worked hours vs invoiced hours, final invoices, final deliverables to client (summary reports, safety documentation, etc.), complete file closure
  • Communication and team work with all lines of business as it relates to providing technical assistance, support, and scheduling
  • Working in fast paced work environment requiring high level of organization and detail
  • Manages assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality and organizational performance and continuous learning.
  • Oversees multi-disciplinary application review teams and provides process-related direction to project team members
  • Monitors work output, reviews project deliverables and ensures project staff and divisional stakeholders complete assigned deliverables on time, on schedule and on budget and at quality standards
  • Oversees and evaluates the work performance of external service providers with respect to quality, timeline, cost and completion of required tasks.
  • Arrange business meetings with prospective clients and attend trade show to promote ER business
  • Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Full accountability for execution of selected key capital projects in the $100k to $5M range.
  • Prepares scope of work documents including design basis, major equipment specifications, and control philosophies
  • Support Estimating team during ER related bids and tenders
  • Monitor financial performance of project throughout execution to ensure budgetary performance and effective management of scope change
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project
  • Supervision and approval of subcontractor invoicing
  • Identify improvement opportunities and participate in developing and implementing ‘best execution practices
  • Ability to prepare, manage and oversee the project budget.
  • Work closely with ER Operations Manager, Dispatch, and Billing Administrator
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management.
  • Other duties as required
