Here is what we need to see from you!
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Extensive experience (15+ years) in project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale multi-billion dollar, infrastructure projects as an owner’s representative or project director.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Solid understanding of project management methodologies, contract administration, risk management, and quality assurance principles.
- Experience managing complex projects in diverse geographic locations, preferably in the water treatment or construction industry.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal).
- Willingness to relocate and work onsite in Peru for the duration of the project

ABOUT THIS ROLE
What will you be responsible for?
The Water Treatment Project in 2010 upgraded Yanacocha’s water management system to meet new Peruvian water quality regulations. Newmont is now executing modifications as of Phase II of the Water Treatment Project (WTP2), which will construct two new water treatment plants to increase water treatment capacity and deploy needed technology.
As the Project Director, you’ll lead the development of the USD$2.0B Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant investment. You’ll oversee the project teams, manage stakeholders, and ensure project milestones are met. Your responsibilities include;
- Directing project execution from design to completion, ensuring alignment with company values and goals
- Building a culture of innovation and excellence among project teams and contractors
- Developing strategic business plans and ensuring compliance with company procedures
- Maximizing plant throughput and financial value while prioritizing health, safety, and environmental concerns
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for project stakeholders, managing communication and relationships
- Oversee contractor performance, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards
- Implement effective project governance, financial management, and risk mitigation strategies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize project delivery processes
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
The Project Director will be accountable for the execution of the circa USD$2.0B investment, by overseeing and directing the management of contractors, consultants, the owner’s management team, and liaison with the Business Co-Sponsors, and Corporate Functional Teams;
- Owner’s Representative: Serve as the primary point of contact and representative for the project owner, advocating for their interests throughout all phases of the project.
- Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including project investors, regulatory agencies, local communities, government officials, and project partners
- Contract Oversight: Provide oversight of the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) contractor, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements, project specifications, and quality standards and deliverables
- Project Governance: Implement effective project governance structures, processes, and controls to monitor project performance, manage risks, and ensure alignment with project objectives
- Financial Management: Manage project budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting, ensuring cost-effective delivery while maintaining financial transparency and accountability
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues to minimize potential impacts on project delivery and outcomes
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure project activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, standards, and company policies, with a focus on delivering a high-quality facility that meets client expectations
- Schedule Management: Oversee project schedules, milestones, and critical path activities, proactively identifying and addressing schedule risks and delays to maintain project timelines
- Change Management: Assess and manage changes to project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring that all changes are properly documented, evaluated for impacts, and approved as necessary
- Communication and Reporting: Provide regular project updates to executive management, stakeholders, and project team members, utilizing clear and effective communication channels
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize project delivery processes, enhance efficiency, and foster innovation
