Description:

Powertech’s Hydrogen Industry Technology and Testing (HIIT) department is the world leading test agency for high pressure components (tanks, valves, regulators, hoses, etc.) used in the natural gas and hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles. Clients include major automotive companies and their Tier 1 equipment suppliers worldwide. In addition, this department performs high pressure testing of components in the oil & gas, aerospace, and various other industries.
As a member of the Hydrogen Industry Technology and Testing team, your role will be primarily to perform specialized high pressure gas, hydraulic and fire testing for clients around the globe, and to creatively design new types of test equipment for this purpose.

Duties

  • Participate in the preparation and execution of tests according to international standards and customer specific requirements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation throughout all phases of testing and ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Promote and market HIIT’s services to potential clients and maintain excellent business relationships with existing customers.
  • Design and build custom high pressure test equipment and data acquisition systems.
  • Apply theoretical and practical knowledge in testing analysis and problem resolution.
  • Review & analyze the work of the team to ensure accuracy, achievement of required results and adherence to accepted engineering practice.
  • Participate in maintenance and improvements of laboratory and field test equipment with emphasis on achieving high quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate projects or project elements including scheduling work and tracking costs.
  • Lead a group of Test Technologists, Technicians and/or Engineers.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Chemical/Process Engineering degree (or other engineering field depending on work experience) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working in relevant industries such Hydrogen, oil & gas or related testing industries.
  • Hands on experience in the design, development and construction of test set-ups and test equipment in gas/hydraulic applications. High pressure (>10,000 psi) experience is a benefit.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in the design and implementation of experimental test setups from conception to completion.
  • Familiar with use of computer data acquisition, instrumentation and control systems.
  • General technical knowledge in high pressure systems would be an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and to solve complex challenges with minimal direction
  • P.Eng or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC
  • Requires a valid BC driver’s license. Requires eligibility to travel internationally with no restrictions.

Job Grade : P2

Salary range : $87,720-103,200.00

  • Ability to optimally adapt to a constrained schedule and perform under pressure
