Description:
Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen potato products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States and around the world. We have state-of-the-art processing plants in New Annan PE, Lethbridge, AB, Wheatley, ON and another in Jamestown, ND, with head offices in Dieppe, NB and sales locations in Toronto, Montreal and Boston.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, “Can Do” attitude and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Two to five years of relevant experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Civil, or Sustainable Design Engineering
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and MS Project
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Mechanical and AutoCAD Inventor
- Knowledge of the following codes and standards would be an asset: Safe Guarding of Machinery Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act of PEI, Lock Out & Tag Out Procedures, Confined Space Awareness, and Working from Heights. General Awareness of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act & Regulations, and the Power Engineering Act & Regulations.
The Key Responsibilities are (but not limited to):
- Manage capital projects from preliminary discussions to installation and commissioning. This includes: defining project scope, budget and schedule, preparing tender packages, contractor selection and supervision, and defining equipment specifications.
- Assist in capital project planning, including identifying project requirements, estimating resources, and developing project timelines.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in the development of business cases and provide design details for capital requests.
- Provide technical support to maintain existing mechanical infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and provide support for maintenance-related or capital issues across all sites, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing downtime.
- Provide technical feedback on improving existing equipment
