Position: Project Engineer
Primary Location: North Vancouver
Shift: Salaried - Monday to Friday - 40 hours/week; Overtime needed as per business needs and training objectives.
Reports to: Plant Manager
Compensation: $110,000 - $123,000+ Benefits + Bonus
The CAD salary for this position is $110,000 - $123,000 + benefits + bonus. Salaried rates are determined by role, level, and location. The salaried rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 2-5 years of Project Engineering experience in chemical manufacturing, refining plants or similar industrial processes

Competencies

  • Effective communicator (verbal and written), able to work with and report to plant personnel, vendors, contractors, engineers & designers, procurement personnel, planners & schedulers, administrative personnel, and senior managers

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

Demonstrated skill/knowledge in the following areas:

  • Capital project management
  • Manufacturing plant support
  • Construction
  • Chemical plant engineering
  • Equipment design
  • Material handling equipment
  • Piping
  • Materials of construction
  • Responsible Care 14001, ISO 14001
  • ASTM and ASME standards

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THIS ROLE AND ABOUT YOU

The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, design and implementation of assigned capital and maintenance projects at Chemtrade’s North Vancouver chloralkali plant. They will also support the plant’s overall capital planning process by identifying project opportunities and associated scope/schedule/budget baselines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will interface directly with all levels of the organization and functions to achieve desired objectives, and will manage/lead Project Execution Teams, Consultants, and Contractors.

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Become familiar with Chemtrade Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report all EHS incidents (injuries, near misses, releases).
  • Complete all required EHS training in a timely fashion.
  • Follow all Chemtrade facility and corporate EHS procedures and practices.
  • Attend and actively participate in facility EHS meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for EHS program improvement.
  • Participate in job safety analysis activities.

  • Employee must be physically capable of spending long hours outdoors and occasionally work in protected clothing and equipment.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders (including vertical).
  • Must be “fit for duty”
