CTL ENGINEERING INC. JOB DESCRIPTION- PROJECT ENGINEER
Location: Shelbyville, Kentucky- Must be local Travel: Minimum within a 1-2 hour range using a personal vehicle, overnight stays about 3-5 days a month on average. Mileage reimbursement program.
General Statement of Duties: The Project Engineer will be working with CTL Construction Services Dept. This position is full-time with competitive pay based on experience. This position will use experience while learning new skills to assist clients. This position will include a mix of fieldwork, laboratory work, and office work. This position works independently on broad projects under the direction of a Dept. Manager while managing a team of direct reports or projects.
Supervision Received and Exercised: Works independently on broad projects under the direction of a Department Manager. No direct supervisory duties are required.
Examples of Duties: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all that may be found in this job.):
- Manages a team of engineers and technicians conducting construction inspection and testing services for Airport, DOT, and LPA transportation projects
- Manages to report of construction quality control activities on construction projects
- Trains and supervises technicians and inspectors
- Manages the maintenance of quality reviews and certifications
- Manages equipment inventory and calibration
- Performs various inspections and tests for public and private sector clients.
- Monitors and enforces quality standards and specifications to support the client.
- Assists in coordination of field personnel, preparation of test reports, and performing specialty tests and services for public and private sector clients.
- Monitor quality control standards and specifications, read blueprints, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of civil and engineering principles, reporting, analysis, and management of teams and projects.
- Construction industry and engineering equipment.
- Must have good customer service skills and be able to build relationships.
- Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and remain quality focused.
- Must have technical skills and understanding of P&L
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to manage and train others and be a team player.
- Ability to be reliable and on time.
- Be quality-minded and client-focused.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline.
- 3-5 years of construction material inspection and testing experience, including 2 years of management experience.
- P.E. (Professional Engineering License) Mandatory
- ACI GRADE I (preferred)
- INDOT CTPs (preferred)
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a proven clean driving record.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering (Master’s preferred)
- Passing FE (registered as EI or EIT)) required, PE preferred
