About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a Project Engineer – Design Integration to join our Hunter Class Frigate Line of Business.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/ or hybrid working. We are also able to offer part-time flexibility for this role.
In this role, you will provide specialist engineering expertise to organise and co-ordinate significant aspects of engineering activity within the Hunter Class Frigate Programme to ensure defined objectives of the Design Zone Integration process are achieved whilst continually maintaining quality and cost
You will be exposed to the whole of design process within a vibrant team and gain a breadth of experience working across various teams and disciplines.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing specialist engineering expertise to manage, organise and coordinate complex project engineering activity to enable the effective transition from system design to production.
  • Interface closely with a broad range of technical engineering domains to identify and resolve cross domain technical issues affecting progress from system design to production.
  • Participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in response to technical developments and operational need to enable the progression of system design to production
  • Carry out relatively complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability
  • Work collaboratively with System Design lead engineers in the coordination and/or conduct of design appraisals to ensure engineering standards are maintained
  • Act as the main point of contact in assigned areas on engineering matters to resolve relatively complex problems and to maintain the profile of awareness of priorities and objectives

About YOU

  • Extensive experience within an Engineering discipline with demonstrated experience in working collaboratively to ensure effective System design integration.
  • Previous experience working as part of an integrated Product Team progressing Mechanical or Marine Systems design.
  • Tertiary qualification and experience in Engineering satisfying the requirements for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia
  • Working Knowledge of Defence project environments is highly desirable
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills along with the drive to meet objectives
  • NV1 clearance or eligibility required
