ABOUT THE ROLE

Mackay Sugar currently offers a permanent opportunity for a skilled Project Engineer specializing in Electrical and/or Control Systems to join our esteemed Projects Team. Under the supervision of the Group Engineering & Compliance Manager, the primary objective of this role is to deliver innovative and pragmatic engineering designs, facilitate operational readiness planning, and oversee project management functions to enhance Mackay Sugar’s long-term sustainability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Collaborating with mill production and engineering personnel to devise capital works proposals, encompassing engineering designs, P&ID’s, estimates, and plant specifications.
• Playing an active role in driving continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing Mackay Sugar’s productivity and profitability, particularly in the domains of power distribution and/or process control.
• Supporting the efficient utilization of the company’s assets by formulating and implementing approved initiatives for capital programs.
• Providing comprehensive project reporting while vigilantly identifying and addressing portfolio risks, as well as ensuring schedule and cost integrity.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Lead the development of project deliverables according to project standards.
• Develop and maintain baseline plans to manage project schedule, cost and resource allocation.
• Develop project estimates and price build ups for internally executed project works.
• Monitor project delivery, project controls, schedules, risks and costs and report on potential problems or opportunities to ensure open communication with all stakeholders.
• Ensure Mackay Sugar’s technical assets (drawings, manuals, investigation records, program code, MMS Master Data etc.) are developed and maintained.
• Preparation of Commissioning strategies and plans by developing commissioning procedures ensuring the update and/or development of Standard Operating Procedures prior to plant hand over.
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, technical reviews and pre-start-up audits.
