We are currently seeking a Project Engineer II to manage activities within the HV Battery team. This role will report to the Sr Manager, Battery Programs and work closely with other Technical Project Managers in the HV Battery mechanical design group. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

The Role:

  • Responsible for the design, development and validation timelines for complex parts and assemblies within the HV Battery
  • Manage the bill of materials for a system or systems within the HV Battery, working cross-functionally with design engineers, supply chain & manufacturing to ensure every part is designed, sourced and validated according to the project schedule
  • Ensure alignment of deliverables, cost and timing targets within Simultaneous Engineering Teams and drive actions to achieve them.
  • Support engineering product development activities: arrange prototype parts, create and schedule DV/PV testing, summarize and report results with key stakeholders.
  • Use project management tools to create project timelines, communicate key engineering tasks, requirements, track progress, and publish critical information promptly.
  • Drive key decisions (technical, project timing, supplier decisions, change management, etc.) that impact system delivery
  • Take ownership and drive resolution of any blockers to successful delivery of the system, including:
  • Technical issues during development or series production - work with responsible engineers to define and drive actions to resolve, monitor and report status to management teams
  • Supplier issues - monitor and escalate appropriately with supply chain and engineering teams to resolve
  • Organizational issues - identify gaps in resources, processes or roles/responsibilities and escalate appropriately with management teams
  • Manufacturing issues that require engineering support – respond to requests for support and escalate appropriately with manufacturing teams and engineering teams to resolve
  • Develop and maintain system roadmap(s) (including variants, product improvements, supplier changes, etc) and impacts on technical specifications, validation testing, manufacturing, cost, etc.
  • Work under minimal guidance to identify project criticality and execute necessary tasks.
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications:

  • Basic technical knowledge of components related to high voltage batteries
  • Ability to identify dependencies between components of a systems (System V or MBSE approach).
  • Experience with automotive product development and APQP/PPAP process.
  • Experience with staged gate milestones and driving to completion.
  • Familiarity with release and change management, DV, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), PV (Production Validation) development, and product launch activities.
  • Experience with quality and problem tools (e.g., structured problem-solving methods, 5 WHY, Fishbone diagrams, 8D, DFMEA, etc.)
  • Organization and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience in electrified systems.
  • 2+ years in product design and release, manufacturing experience, or technical project management.
  • Proficient with program management software tools (e.g., Jama connect, Jira, Smartsheet, Confluence).
  • Certificate in Project Management.

Education:

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field.
