ISL’s Fernie Municipal Team works on a diverse range of urban road corridor, traffic calming, multi-modal transportation, watermain, sewer, utility and municipal infrastructure projects. The team also acts as the civil design lead in structural, mechanical, landscape architecture and environmental projects which include bridges, pump stations, large park redevelopments and habitat restoration. Our team approach is integral to our success, and we are committed to finding, mentoring and growing the right individual:

  • Interesting Work - you can expect to be involved in a variety of projects for multiple clients while working on the full project lifecycle including feasibility studies, designs, construction and close out. We are currently working on annually capital upgrade projects that include road rehabilitation, utility replacements and larger work involving sewage treatment plant upgrades and pump station replacement projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepared sanitary, storm and water servicing design drawings, briefs/reports
  • Designed/prepared grading and servicing plans for site and land development projects
  • Designed road and utility alignments, existing and proposed grade profiles and cross sections
  • Prepared cost estimates and associated summaries
  • Prepared tender and contract documents including notice to tenderers, instruction to tenderers, tender form, supplementary general conditions, special provisions and detailed specifications
  • Completed Civil3D designs including grading functions, pipe networks, profiles, surfaces, and earthworks comparisons
  • Collaborated on projects both locally and across ISL disciplines and offices
  • Reviewed and confirmed progress claims quantities
  • Tracked progress during construction
  • Visited construction site to monitor progress and other duties as per the contract document
