Due to MSG’s continued growth in our Civil/Municipal Division, a new opening is available for a Civil Engineer in our Lansing, MI office!
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
- Practical experience in design and plan preparation of site development projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- EI certification in the state of Michigan, with the ability to obtain PE certification within 6 to 12 months.
- Experience with industry design standards (e.g. MDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, etc.)
- Understanding of guidelines and specifications.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D grading is required.
- Proficiency in independent preparation of Hydraulic/Hydrologic reports is preferred.
- Roadway design and survey experience are a plus.
- The ability to engage reviewing agencies while preparing technical designs and addressing comments is a critical part of our process.
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating and coordinating with review agencies.

Responsibilities:
- Work in conjunction with licensed engineers assisting with the design and preparation of a variety of commercial, industrial, energy, water/wastewater and community projects throughout the Midwest.
- Coordinate with fellow MSG staff across a variety of services sectors including: Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Site Construction, etc.
- Leading the preparation of transportation design plans/3D modeling for local agency transportation and/or municipal utility projects.
- Perform and check various design calculations and performing various tasks as they relate to preparing a design package.
- Providing technical expertise/guidance to junior staff
- Preparing special provisions, front end feasibility documents, due diligence reports and zoning studies, project development, storm water modeling and design, cost estimates and detailed design plans
