Due to MSG’s continued growth in our Civil/Municipal Division, a new opening is available for a Civil Engineer in our Lansing, MI office!

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

• Practical experience in design and plan preparation of site development projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• EI certification in the state of Michigan, with the ability to obtain PE certification within 6 to 12 months.
• Experience with industry design standards (e.g. MDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, etc.)
• Understanding of guidelines and specifications.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D grading is required.
• Proficiency in independent preparation of Hydraulic/Hydrologic reports is preferred.
• Roadway design and survey experience are a plus.
• The ability to engage reviewing agencies while preparing technical designs and addressing comments is a critical part of our process.
• The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating and coordinating with review agencies.

• Work in conjunction with licensed engineers assisting with the design and preparation of a variety of commercial, industrial, energy, water/wastewater and community projects throughout the Midwest.
• Coordinate with fellow MSG staff across a variety of services sectors including: Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Site Construction, etc.
• Leading the preparation of transportation design plans/3D modeling for local agency transportation and/or municipal utility projects.
• Perform and check various design calculations and performing various tasks as they relate to preparing a design package.
• Providing technical expertise/guidance to junior staff
• Preparing special provisions, front end feasibility documents, due diligence reports and zoning studies, project development, storm water modeling and design, cost estimates and detailed design plans
