Responsibilities:
WHAT THE ROLE WILL INVOLVE
The Project Engineer will support the delivery of Engineering projects on time, to cost, to scope and to quality. The PE will be allocated to various minor projects with the responsibility for mentoring the engineering team allocated to the specific projects under their control to ensure the successful delivery of the engineering program for each project. The PE will:
- Manage the engineering body of work through implementation of project governance and management tools and approaches.
- Oversee the successful and timely delivery of the allocated project engineering requirements in accordance with the relevant Project Contract and agreed Statement of Work.
- Ensure the project engineering effort is executed in accordance with the relevant project documentation, engineering governance requirements and Company policies and procedures.
- Plan the project’s engineering effort and monitor its progress during execution including being involved in resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
- Ensure that project engineering deliverables are to the appropriate levels of quality.
- Participate in the technical interactions with the Customer.
- Support the PM’s of allocated projects to produce management reports (weekly and monthly updates as well as the usual ad-hoc status/stand up reports).
- Support the PM’s in the production of the monthly forecast to complete.
- Support the Chief Engineer in the development of Engineering governance policies, procedures and work methods.
To be successful in this role and to best leverage the opportunities provided by L3Harris, some skills & experience ideal applicants will bring include;
- Tertiary engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering roles in design projects
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Customer relationship and development experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Microsoft Office Suite skills, preferably including Microsoft Project.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Experience with ERP systems
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering organisations and key metrics that drive tangible improvements
- Working knowledge and practical experience in the Defence Industry sector is preferre
