Our Thunder Bay office is a multidisciplinary team of designers, technologists, and engineers. We execute projects ranging from small to large for clients across Canada. The types of clients we work for include:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Project Engineers and Project Managers will work on one or multiple assigned projects and client accounts to support the execution of projects, manage the scope, budget, and schedule.
This individual will be a key resource in driving initiatives within the business unit. This requires developing connections across multiple offices and understanding what services we can offer and the clients we serve.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in Ontario
  • Project Engineers: 6 to 10 years of related experience in industrial design, maintenance, or operating facilities
  • Project Managers: 10+ years of related experience in industrial design management, either in a consulting engineering environment or in an operating facility
  • Brownfield project experience is required
  • Experience in understanding, creating, and maintaining schedules (MS Project or Primavera) is an asset
  • Experience with the preparation of engineering hour estimates and proposals is required
  • Must have a strong technical engineering background in either chemical, mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering. May be asked to complete technical reviews of documents
  • Experience in material procurement process, capital cost estimating, construction planning and support is an asset
  • Multi-discipline engineering experience within an industrial consulting engineering environment is required.
  • Organizational skills to effectively handle multiple small projects concurrently in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive client and project team relationships
  • Strong attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the engineering effort to meet project objectives, on time and on budget
  • Developing winning strategies, proposals, and accurate engineering execution plans to complete projects as a team
  • Managing change requests from the Client, suppliers, or internals for effect on overall project scope, schedule, and budget. Consulting with the Project Manager (PM) to get approvals prior to implementation
  • Gathering and distributing project information to the project team
  • Administration, planning, coordination, and monitoring of projects
  • Work closely with Discipline, Client and Technical Managers to deliver our on time, fit for purpose designs
  • Generating or participating in studies and detail designs
  • Inter-discipline co-ordination during the development and implementation of design
  • Ensuring that all project scope items are addressed, and quality objectives met
  • Ensuring project schedules and budgets are maintained and adhered to
  • Responsible for adhering to all health and safety policies and guidelines
  • Building on established relationships with key clients, by meeting or exceeding expectations on quality, schedule, budget, and fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Coordinating client meetings involving team members as appropriate
  • Managing a Client’s expectations and discussing the technical/financial aspects in a clear manner with a thorough understanding of the Client’s needs
  • Understanding the underlying aims of a client in undertaking a project. Trying to identify next steps or other projects that would help achieve these aims. Communicating this to the Client and Tetra Tech management
  • Understanding client procedures and sharing best practices with internal team
