Description:
The role
Reporting to the Director, Project Finance, You will undertake financial activities for capital projects while coordinating multiple tasks within agreed priorities, time frames and accountabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide business and accounting expertise, leadership, strategic advice, reporting and analysis for the various major capital projects across their stages (planning, design, delivery, commissioning etc) to enable the projects to be delivered within budget, while ensuring adherence to Department of Health Finance guidelines.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditure, complete analysis, provide technical advice and produce reports to Senior Directors and Project Management for capital infrastructure projects within a timely manner.
- Contribute to the preparation and ongoing maintenance of resourcing forecasts, including development and refinement of cash flows.
- Monthly reviews and audits of project expenditures and preparation of correction journals.
- Proactively identify and solve, or escalate as appropriate, potential financial control issues.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders on all project related matters.
- Perform other duties as directed from time to time while providing input into the development of systems and strategies aligned to the corporate direction.
The successful person
To be successful for this role you will have proven analytical experience and knowledge of financial and activity related policies and processes while being able to apply this knowledge to successful report concepts on capital projects. You will also have proven computing and analytical skills applied in data extraction from finance database systems e.g. SAP. Demonstrated experience in monitoring and reporting on program/project budgets will be vital, understanding the pressures and constraints that impact project delivery. As an action orientated individual you must demonstrate initiative by undertaking reviews of processes and procedures to progress the financial achievements of the business objectives. You will have knowledge of the process and steps undertaken in the delivery of Capital Infrastructure including types of contracts, design staging and project finalisation. Strong oral and written communication skills will be essential to effectively liaise, consult and negotiate with stakeholders whilst establishing strong professional relationships.
