Description:

Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working in the 8249-114 St Edmonton office with a mixture of on and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement is subject to change, based on operational needs.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary level education, preferably a university degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of four years related experience in various project management roles.
  • Certification in Project Management, such as PMP designation preferred.
  • Previous knowledge or experience with regulations and standards, including Health Canada Cells, Tissues and Organs (CTO), Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) and World Marrow Donor Associate (WMDA) would be considered an asset.
  • Proven experience successfully interacting and building credibility with senior managers and stakeholders.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Canadian Blood Services business processes, regulatory environment, and project management principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgement and understanding of when to seek direction.
  • Ability to analyse complex problems, interpret business needs and develop integrated, creative solutions.
  • Ability to develop accurate and detailed reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to contribute effectively in a team environment.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in computer software including Excel and PowerPoint.

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Project Lead, Stem Cells-Edmonton NFRP to join our dynamic Stem Cells team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-time Project Lead to join our dynamic Stem Cells team. The work of a Project Lead is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada’s Lifeline.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, managing and implementing specific Canadian Blood Services projects/initiatives and/or components of major, complex projects. You will develop business cases, coordinate project activities, monitor progress, analyze and report on related issues and risks, and provide guidance and advice to project team members. You will work closely with functional business groups and project managers to achieve project objectives in accordance with established cost and time parameters.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Leads project teams and manages activities within defined projects and/or specific work streams within major, complex projects as assigned by senior management.
  • Manages project team members and promotes effective relationships to ensure the success of projects.
  • Develops the project business case for small projects or participates in the development of business cases for larger scale projects.
  • Monitors and reports on project status.
  • Develops communications strategies, plans, materials and tools to keep project team, business owners and stakeholders informed of project objectives, plans, development and implementation schedules, etc.
  • Plans for the preparation and execution of certification/accreditation processes stemming from applicable regulations and standards, including Health Canada Cells Tissues and Organs (CTO), Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) and World Marrow Donor Associate (WMDA).
  • Participates in internal and external accreditation and regulatory audits and assists in responding to audit observations.
