Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities
As the world’s leading sustainability consultancy and solutions firm, we have the opportunity and responsibility to manage our climate impact and develop resilience in the face of ever-present climate risks. Anthesis seeks to serve as a role model for responsible business, as well as a test lab for novel techniques in managing the climate crisis. In 2021, Anthesis launched our internal climate program, Route to Net Zero (RTNZ). In 2022, Anthesis developed its first company-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and in 2023 we set a Net-Zero by 2040 and near-term Science Based Target, validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and offset our entire GHG footprint, setting us on the path to lifetime carbon neutrality.
As we mature our internal climate program, we are seeking a project manager for the RTNZ program. You will interface directly with our Chief Sustainability Officer, Climate Program Lead, members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), our corporate social responsibility function, regional representatives, and various subject matter experts throughout the team. Projects include the annual GHG inventory, net zero strategy, climate transition planning, offsetting, climate risk updates, and additional projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage projects, regularly coordinating with subject matter experts and other team members, to ensure workstreams get completed in a timely manner.
  • Immediate projects include:
  • Develop Anthesis’ Net Zero Roadmap and Climate Transition Plan
  • Oversee completion of the 2023 GHG Inventory, including third-party assurance
  • Coordinate Anthesis’ response to the 2024 CDP Climate Change Disclosure, along with support from the North America CDP Team
  • Engage with our Carbon Markets Team to procure offsets covering our 2023 footprint, as well as a portion of our historical emissions o Manage our Energy Attribute Certificate and Offset documentation
  • Support data collection improvements for our 3 Gt Impact Target
  • Prepare for and lead monthly update meetings with key stakeholders, including dashboard and key status updates.
  • Manage all key documents including facility and supply chain data, renewable energy certificates, carbon offsets, etc.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to continually scan the horizon for next steps in climate program development, including opportunities for improvement across data management, reporting, and emissions reduction.
  • Support Corporate Social Responsibility team with preparing key metrics for management and investors

Key Requirements & Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • BA/BSc. degree in mathematics, engineering, science, economics or related field
  • 4+ years’ experience in corporate GHG emissions accounting, net zero strategy, or related field
  • Proficiency in project management
  • Familiarity with carbon accounting, target-setting, and reporting standards and programs (e.g., GHG Protocol, RE100, VCMI, SBTi, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable about current and emerging policy and regulatory drivers of GHG emissions disclosure and management.
  • Experience with third-party audits of inventories, and with auditors/assurance providers
  • Experience in broader ESG strategy, data analytics, and/or preparation of corporate disclosures (CDP, GRI, SASB) a plus.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE:

  • Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate technical expertise as well as solid understanding of the client’s business and needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication and consulting skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to respond positively to pressure and take a flexible approach to a dynamic, fast moving and changing work environment.
  • Able to work on virtual teams across different time zones
