Description:
Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager – located in our Purcellville, VA office
As a design-build, ground-improvement subcontractor, we are looking for a Project Manager to oversee installation of our geotechnical solutions on multiple projects at any given time. The position will have responsibility for estimating, contract review, project management, and construction. This position works in our Purcellville, VA office but may require travel to project location when needed, estimated at 10%.
Major Job Elements:
- Responsibility for the operation and profitability of assigned projects.
- Promote safety as the Company’s top priority.
- Oversee the total construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
- Support sales, engineering and estimating as required to procure new projects.
- Interface with owner representatives, estimating, sales and engineering professionals, union representatives, vendors and subcontractors.
- Ensure all company, client and project policies, procedures, standards, safety programs, etc. are followed.
- Direct day-to-day operations for the company and perform project management responsibilities until growth warrants additional project managers.
- Close oversight of all quality control responsibilities to ensure projects are constructed as designed.
- Provide input for invoicing and assist in any collection effort as required.
- Develop and maintain positive relations with various union representatives.
- Provide timely, thorough reporting to senior staff and Owners.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience and 3 years in a project manager role
- The ideal candidate would have a B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or commensurate experience)
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical and civil construction obtained by working for large civil construction general contractors.
- Experience with reviewing and negotiating construction contracts
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Significant experience working with labor unions
