Barbaricum is seeking a Project Manager to contribute to the DoD Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office’s (CDAO) mission. CDAO’s Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) division provides guidance, tools, and expertise related to the ethical and effective use of data, analytics, and AI across the DoD. Under this mission, the CDAO RAI division requires support in multiple functional areas to ensure deliverables associated with RAI Tools, the RAI Ecosystem, and RAI Strategy and Policies are completed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; PMP certification is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex projects, preferably in the AI, machine learning, or software development domain.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience implementing knowledge management solutions, including document management systems, collaboration platforms, and version control tools.
  • Familiarity with agile and traditional project management methodologies, as well as project management tools such as Jira or Microsoft Project.
  • Understanding in AI and a commitment to promoting ethical and transparent practices in AI development and deployment.

Responsibilities:

THE PM WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FACILITATING THE PLANNING, EXECUTION, AND MONITORING OF RESPONSIBLE AI PROJECTS BY A SMALL TEAM OF ETHICISTS, POLICY SPECIALISTS, DATA SCIENTISTS, AND COMPUTER ENGINEERS WORKING ON THE RESPONSIBLE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DIVISION.

Barbaricum has been supporting CDAO for more than 3 years, including current support to the T&E Directorate and Resource and Management Office. This position is a new role on a team that will provide SETA support that focuses on enabling CDAO’s Responsible Artificial Intelligence objectives through subject matter expertise-enabled support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates the management of multiple responsible AI projects in stages ranging from initiation to deployment, enabling understanding of project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including researchers, engineers, data scientists, and ethics and policy experts, to define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Develops comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocations, and actively monitor progress against key milestones.
  • Identifies and forecasts risks, issues, and dependencies, and proactively communicates with stakeholders to address challenges and ensure project success.
  • Implements robust knowledge management solutions, including document repositories, wikis, and collaboration tools, to facilitate the capture, organization, and dissemination of project-related information and insights.
  • Establishes and enforces best practices for documentation, version control, and knowledge sharing across project teams.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement by soliciting feedback from project teams and stakeholders, and leveraging lessons learned to refine project management processes and methodologies.
