SUMMARY:

This position is directly responsible for the day-to-day management of construction and equipment projects including new store construction and renovations. This role is also responsible for ensuring projects meet Company and industry standards while meeting project timelines and budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College diploma or University studies (certificate) required. Professional Engineering degree or equivalent preferred.

  • 3 - 6 years of directly related work experience in Construction Project Management.

  • Experience in base building retail construction and design is mandatory.

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, and building codes.
  • Excellent English Communication Skills. Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, to all level of management, vendors and outside organizations.
  • Valid G Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of food store construction is an asset.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project and ACROBAT – Dolby. Knowledge of SAP.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing.
  • Initiative and ability to take on multiple deliverables.
  • Customer Service oriented.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall supervision, coordination, planning, scheduling, and budget control of multiple construction and equipment projects.
  • Conducts site visits within the Province of Ontario.
  • Develops project plan, scope of work and schedules based on budget and required time frame, including coordinating outside contractors and equipment vendors.
  • Reviews all project drawings and makes recommendations on changes and assembles tender packages.
  • Participates in the bid review process.
  • Processes contract drawings and specifications and ensure projects are built in accordance with approved documents.
  • Processes changes received from Consultants including contacting contractors for pricing, checking subcontractor quotations to ensure they are complete and reasonable, and presenting them to the Consultants with confidence that the pricing is in accordance with the changes.
  • Manages project financial updates in SAP module.
  • Conducts project site meetings, weekly or bi-weekly as needed.
  • Ensures all necessary communication of scheduled changes are clearly and promptly shared with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensures required equipment, materials and other resources are available on site as required to meet project expectations.
  • Problem solves any on-site issues as required ensuring budget and timelines are considered. Proactively anticipates potential problems and takes action to mitigate issues before they can have a negative effect on projects. May involve removing barriers between various teams. Will involve interacting with design, operations, consultants, outside contractors and municipalities to reach the best solution.
  • Provides timely status updates on issues that may result in a delay of the project to the Director, Construction.
  • Manages change orders, deficiencies, and project close outs.
  • Willing to travel 70% of the time
