Description:

Travel to sites throughout the country on a regular basis is a requirement of this role.
Responsible for directing and coordinating all project activities, ensuring a focus on performance. Overseeing the delivery process from initial strategy and planning through to feasibility, design, construction, and eventual handover.
Managed projects valued up to £6M.
Managed multiple projects simultaneously, understanding and managing complex project information.
Technical and construction knowledge, including contemporary and traditional construction methods, conservation, listed buildings and basements.
Competency in IT software packages, including Outlook, Word, Excel.Confidentiality.
Tasks

With relevant degree level experience and Project Management qualifications, you’ll have a demonstrable and exceptional track record working within high pressure and high-risk environments, as well as the following:

  • Multi Project/Programme Management experience including a record of project managing complex programmes of work, including in a heritage or historic buildings environment.
  • Strong risk management skills and experience.
  • Sound business judgement including an appreciation of complex problems and how to solve them.
  • Strong communication and motivational skills.
  • Ability to embrace new challenges and deal with a level of ambiguity.
  • Experience of leading projects from a business perspective, including EVM, schedule adherence and schedule risk assessments.
  • Bidding & estimating experience.
  • Negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships and work collaboratively across various levels and with internal and external collaborators.
  • Drive and motivation in leading project teams to strive for excellence in the face of adversity.
  • Engage, share standard methodology and find opportunities for innovation.

What you’ll do

Successful applicants will be expected to undertake a wide range of responsibilities in this role. Responsibilities for this position will be varied and include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Plan and coordinate a project from start to finish, including organising the schedule of works and programmes.
  • Plan the work and oversee the buying of necessary materials and equipment with the assistance of the procurement team.
  • Oversee the management of the construction sites on a day-to-day basis, including supervising the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work and overseeing quality control.
  • Ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress.
  • Check design documents with architects, surveyors, engineers and any other relevant parties.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety, including site inspections to ensure safety rules are being followed.
  • Write project reports.
  • Maintain regular communication and attend meetings to inform of progress on the project.
  • Communicate with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and others involved in the project.
  • Deal with any unexpected issues that may arise during the project.
  • Develop Risk Assessments and Method Statements together with the Safety Plan and to observe the requirement of the CDM Regulations in the status of Principal Contractor.
  • Manage all sub-contractors and supply chain effectively.
  • Supervise the quality of the works and hand over a snag free building.
  • Lead the way in finding, studying, and planning property projects in various fields. Share these plans with the organisation.

Requirements

  • PRINCE2/PMI or similar Project Management qualification.
  • Qualified in areas such as CSCS/ECS/IOSH/SMSTS
  • Extensive experience working on projects within the Property Building arena including in heritage or historic buildings.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to motivate others to ensure a high standard of work.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Resilience and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure so that the project can progress.
  • Strong attention to detail for conducting site inspections and managing complex contracts.
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures and legislation.
  • A mature outlook, initiative and the ability to organise own workload and good all round
  • hands-on practical skills.
  • Approachable and open manner – able to demonstrate empathy and a personable approach.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels to gain buy in.
