JOB PURPOSE

To project manage the development of a national clinical audit for Paediatric Type 1 Diabetes.

National clinical audits of diabetes mellitus type 1 can lead to improvements in quality of care and patient outcomes. A feasibility study carried out by the NOCA (2022) identified significant variation between centres in Ireland in terms of multidisciplinary team resourcing and expertise, availability of electronic systems for data collection and method of measurement of HbA1c level in paediatric centres. It recommended the development of a national clinical audit of diabetes mellitus type 1 in the paediatric population. The principle of reliable data from digitised data solutions for the collection, linkage of data from multiple sources to minimise the burden of manual data collection on clinical staff is a key principle underpinning this development project. This project will be delivered in two phases.

  • Phase 1: Establish project team, develop audit methodology, pilot data collection and digitised data collection solution.
  • Phase 2: Build the IT solution, commence national implementation and establish day to day management structures for the audit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Manager will coordinate a team of subject matter experts to include clinical, technical, audit methodology, data analytical, stakeholder engagement and patient representatives. The Project Manager will be responsible for the following:
