We are currently looking for a Project Manager. The successful candidate will be someone comfortable with a fast-paced & dynamic environment. They will be able to adapt well under pressure, be self-motivated and take direction well. A team approach is mandatory and will require an open-minded and adaptable work ethic.
Project Focus
- Work closely with project managers, consultant engineers, utility providers and local authorities to ensure the quality of the project meets Speers standards and is completed on time and within budget.
- Track project progress; through overseeing the construction team’s effective management of approved budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Work with your construction team to create and maintain the Master project schedule and milestones.
- Oversee the entire project management process from approving project deliverables to initiating project reviews and ensuring risks are continuously assessed and mitigated.
- Ensure your construction team is identifying opportunities to reduce overall costs and improve trade/supplier performance.
- Recognize potential conflicts or issues and facilitate solutions (e.g. resource loading, priority clashes, and support your team with conflict resolution when needed.
- Review major trade/supplier contracts before finalization.
- Provide monthly updates to senior management, identify, assess, and inform of internal and external issues that may affect the project.
- Maintain relationship with other operational leaders and foster collaborative and effective teamwork and communication between leadership and staff.
Leadership Focus
- Partner closely with the People & Culture team to attract and hire top talent to ensure site management teams are set up for success and business needs are met.
- Provide on-going mentorship, coaching and guidance to the Project Management team’s growth and development.
- Manage performance expectations and conduct performance evaluations of direct reports.
- Support the development of all Construction team members and actively contribute to succession planning.
Safety
- Ensure Construction team prioritizes safety and reinforces the safety culture.
Qualifications and Knowledge
- 6 years of combined experience in construction and project management as part of a general contractor in a senior position
- Heavy civil and concrete experience is preferred.
- At least five (3) years of experience managing/supervising a project team of varying levels of experience to work cohesively within departments.
- Ability to promote a culture and collective goal of client satisfaction with the team.
- Proven record and ability to execute exceptional work on time and within budget.
- A strong personal network of construction and trade professionals - ability to leverage these relationships to deliver quality and excellence.
- Professional communication skills - both oral and written, with the ability to manage conflict effectively and deal with challenging conversations with ease.
