REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree or diploma in civil, environmental or mechanical engineering.
  • 5 years’ experience in construction industry, preference is given to those with water and wastewater construction or engineering experience.
  • Experience cost estimating civil and/or mechanical piping projects
  • Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal.
  • Multi‐discipline knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls engineering and construction.
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of project and technical issues.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
  • Experience supervising, training, coaching and mentoring staff is an asset.
  • Training or education in Project Management is an asset.
  • Enjoy fast paced environment, willing to push self and others to meet schedules.
  • Highly organized and motivated to carry out a variety of duties.
  • Aptitude to problem solve and think “outside the box”.
  • Highly detail oriented.

Responsibilities:

The job responsibilities for this role includes:

  • Review project contractual documents to gain an understanding of the project requirements (time frame, budget, safety, quality, staffing, materials, and equipment requirements), necessary to complete the project within the required time frame.
  • Identify errors in contract documents and design drawings and mitigate risk though RFIs, change orders and other methods.
  • Identify potential cost saving ideas and develop a strategy to implement these ideas.
  • Prepare detailed construction cost estimates and schedules during tendering and project execution phases.
  • Prepare subcontract agreements in accordance with company policy, ensuring sufficient risk is passed onto subcontractors.
  • Ensure subcontractor has all required submittal approvals, materials, supplies, equipment, and tools to complete work before the subcontractor begins work onsite.
  • Procure equipment and materials on time and under budget in accordance with company policy.
  • Planning all operations to maximise the efficiency of the work force, materials, supplies, equipment, and tools. Additionally, track productivity for labour and material costs.
  • Ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates and subcontractors are defined and understood.
  • Ensure that all the resources including personnel, equipment, materials, and information necessary to undertake the project are available and committed.
  • Coordinate projects and ensure that labour is scheduled to satisfy project requirements in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff.
  • Direct and supervise the activities of each project to achieve pre‐set levels of performance in terms of quantity and quality of work produced. This includes on‐site scheduling, establishing goals and standards.
  • Establishing and maintaining a communicative, co‐ordinated, and co‐operative relationship with all other individuals involved on the project.
  • Coordinate with client to ensure client satisfaction with respect to each project.
  • Maintain close and co‐operative contacts with subcontractor personnel to ensure that the project progresses smoothly.
  • Provide management of sub‐contractors, ensuring that the sub‐contractors fulfill their contractual obligations in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Submit, organize, review, approve and maintain project documentation (RFI, CCO, CO, shop drawings, etc.)
  • Anticipate potential roadblocks and develop solutions to prevent issues from arising; resolve any problems that may arise during project execution.
  • Be alert to opportunities to change equipment, methods, processes and procedures that can benefit the company, and research and develop these ideas as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all construction and installation is performed in accordance with company and contractual standards of quality. Review daily records to ensure that all quality and quantity standards are being met.
  • Negotiate change orders, ensuring Tritech is fairly compensated for the errors and omissions in the contract documents or extra scope requested by the client.
  • Work with the client to collect all progress billing payments past due.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices ensuring invoices do not exceed
  • contract or purchase order amounts.
  • Complete site inspections, prepare as built drawings, O&M manuals, testing reports.
  • Ensure that all company and regulatory body requirements relating to safety, health and environment are strictly adhered to and enforced.
  • Provide a safe work environment through continuous training and development.
  • Operate with honesty, integrity, and respect.
  • Enhance the image and reputation of Tritech by exercising sound and ethical business practices in all relations with customers, employees, suppliers and other third parties.
  • Complete miscellaneous project activities including tender prospecting & qualification, tender submission, contract execution, workforce planning, project controls, design, purchasing, shipping & receiving, assembly & integration, payment, resourcing, personnel development, asset management and reporting.
