Description:

Aalto Startup Center is a hybrid accelerator operated at Aalto University, offering both incubation and acceleration services to early-stage and growth-oriented startups in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Helsinki metropolitan area.
We are now seeking a Project Manager for our partner program at Urban Tech Helsinki incubator.
Urban Tech Helsinki is a joint initiative between the City of Helsinki and Aalto University, running from 2021 to 2025. The project also involves partners such as the University of Helsinki and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the progress and achievement of goals in accordance with the project plan. This includes leading the project team, planning and managing the incubator program, planning and managing stakeholder relations, designing and implementing communication and marketing strategies in close collaboration with business advisors and other experts within Aalto and the partner network, as well as external service providers. The Project Manager will work closely with the Urban Tech Helsinki team and be part of the larger Aalto Startup Center team.
The role also involves managing client contacts, representing the project at various forums, reporting to funders, and participating in advisory board and steering group work. As the project operates in international networks and with various stakeholders, fluency in English and excellent communication and negotiation skills are required. The project’s activities are continuously developed, and the project manager will be responsible for planning and implementing the work.
The incubator primarily operates at Maria 01 in Helsinki and A Grid in Otaniemi, Espoo.

We expect candidates to have

  • Experience in successfully leading projects that promote early-stage entrepreneurship, preferably from the public sector
  • Interest in startups and the startup ecosystem
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to achieving goals within set timelines
  • A “pay-it-forward” attitude, willingness to share experiences and make an impact.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

The position starts in August 2024 and runs until December 31, 2025. The working language is English, but some tasks, such as reporting, will be carried out in Finnish. The main workplace is located at Aalto University’s campus.
