SALARY RANGE: $42-$60/hour (commensurate with experience)

Job Requirements:

  • A post-secondary education in engineering, science, environmental science, or a related discipline. Licensed as a P.Geo. or a P.Eng. required. Environmental Engineer or Environmental Geoscientist specialization preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant employment experience on developing waste solutions for municipalities, Indigenous communities, and the IC&I sectors and completing annual monitoring and reporting for these sectors.
  • Familiarity with Ontario waste and environmental legislation and regulations and a variety of waste management practices.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and technical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage several assignments at one time.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Understanding and/or proficiency with sector related computer software and all Microsoft Office products.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English.
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle

Responsibilities:

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Cambium is looking for a Project Manager to join the Waste Resources Management group and support projects related to waste management. Our Waste Resources Management Group works with a variety of public and private clients on a wide range of projects. The successful candidate will have in‐depth training and experience as a Contaminant Hydrogeologist or Environmental Engineer. Reporting to the Group Manager, and working closely with technicians/technologist and coordinators, you play a key role to support project planning, scheduling, allocation of personnel and resources, and budgeting. You monitor and drive efficient and effective project activity, maintain project scope, and provide logistical oversight of task implementation for your team. You will support our clients with monitoring and reporting their waste management facilities, as well as guidance on the day to day operation of waste management sites and systems (e.g., approvals (ECA/EASR), operations manuals, planning, IPR transition, etc.).

JOB DUTIES

  • Design and manage monitoring and reporting programs (groundwater, surface water, and landfill gas).
  • Management of projects of varying complexity involving waste management design and operations for landfills, composting and transfer stations facilities, cost estimating, tender preparation, permitting and annual regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare/write assessments for approvals (closure plans, transfer station plans, annual monitoring reports, hydrogeological surface water assessments), including Environmental Compliance Approval and the Environmental Activity and Sector Registry applications.
  • Provide technical support and review in a very broad range of waste projects in the areas including: annual groundwater/surface water assessments, hydrogeological assessments for landfill expansions and development, landfill and transfer station operations, land use compatibility assessments.
  • Project planning, scheduling, allocation of personnel and resources, subcontractor supervision and management, budgeting, invoicing, overall supervision of project personnel, and communication with clients.
  • Responsible for retention of existing clients and acquisition of new clients.
  • Directly responsible for the health and safety of any person working on an assignment under the supervision of the project manager.
  • Directly accountable for revenue, costs, and profitability on all project work assigned as the project manager.
  • Willing to travel to project sites and meetings as required.
  • Providing mentorship and training to junior personnel.
