Description:

Under general supervision, this position focuses on building, enhancing, and supporting the undergraduate and graduate student body of the Department of Viticulture and Enology. This will include managing and supporting a communication and recruitment strategy centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Activities will involve developing, organizing, guiding, and completing projects, initiatives, processes, projects and programs for the department and its students. In this role, the coordinator will maintain a close working relationship with, and serves as a resource for, academic, administrative, student and community leaders.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in communicating, networking, facilitating, and cultivating relationships with prospective students, including diverse and under-represented communities/educational institutions.
  • Experience working with issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion, including experience with social and cultural barriers to educational attainment.
  • Experience planning, marketing, and managing events, including event budgets.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Skills to solicit constructive input from, and develop consensus among, groups and constituencies with differing priorities and perspectives.
  • Skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including experience with MS Office Suite, Google Suite, and video conferencing software.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with student advising and counseling.
  • Experience with outreach to students and other constituent groups via social media and other communication applications relevant to student outreach.
  • Experience applying for or managing financial resources for programs.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Understanding of agriculture, wine production, and the wine industry.
  • Knowledge of University of California Policies & Procedures
  • Knowledge of UC Davis programs and processes for recruitment, admissions, and retention.
