JOB DESCRIPTION

The Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute is looking for a Project Scientist to join Dr. Ljubimov’s lab!
The Ljubimov Laboratory, under the direction of Alexander Ljubimov, PhD, director of the Eye Program at the Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute, is focused on diabetic eye disease. The goal of the Ljubimov Lab is to unravel human stem cell alterations in diabetic eye disease and their impact on disease development, in order to restore stem cell functions for future clinical translation. In the cornea, the aim is to normalize altered epithelial stem cells by gene therapy in organ cultures.
The Ljubimov Lab has also developed a new nano gene therapy for diabetic corneal disease. Recently, the lab’s focus has been on the development of a new induced pluripotent stem cell-driven source of corneal epithelial stem cells for limbal stem cell deficiency. Researchers in the Ljubimov Lab are investigating corneal markers that are epigenetically suppressed in diabetes. To learn more, please visit Ljubimov Research Lab | Cedars-Sinai.

EDUCATION:

• Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in the area directly related to the field of research specialization.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Minimum completion of three (3) years of postdoctoral appointments in area of specialization, as applicable.
• Demonstrated significant, original, and creative contributions to a research or creative program or project.
• Knowledge of PI’s area of research specialization.
• Demonstrated technical competency in a variety of research techniques and protocols.

• May lead or train Staff Research Associates and Research Fellows.
• Will assist in day-to-day laboratory activities.
• Appointees on an academic trajectory will be expected to commit a portion of their time to developing an independent range of research.
