Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Project / Senior Environmental Noise Engineer to join our Environmental Management practice in Ontario. The successful candidate will ideally be based near Kingston, or near one of our offices in Ottawa, Guelph, Toronto, Waterloo, or Cambridge. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fieldwork such as inspecting industrial sites to identify sources of air and noise emissions and relevant permitting requirements;
  • Develop noise emissions based on field data and engineering principles;
  • Environmental noise modelling in CadnaA, STAMSON, or other comparable models;
  • Data analysis and preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Leading and participating in regulatory negotiations; and
  • Development and implementation of training materials for early career professionals.

Education and Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or comparable degree. (required)
  • Advanced degree in a similar field of study. (preferred)
  • Licensure by Professional Engineers Ontario i.e. P.Eng. (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years’ experience (8+ preferred) performing regulatory environmental noise assessments under the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Environmental Protection Act in Ontario, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with land use compatibility assessments under the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks D-Series Guidelines. (preferred)
  • Experience with MS Office and CadnaA. (required)
  • Experience with noise mitigation design. (preferred)
  • Experience developing and implementing training programs and mentoring junior staff. (preferred)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
